choragus is a native macOS app for Sonos speakers. It controls your speakers over your own network, with no account and no cloud.
Browse the Sonos library on your NAS, Sonos favourites and playlists, media servers such as Plex and Synology, Apple Music, Spotify, TIDAL, Amazon Music, TuneIn, Calm Radio, SomaFM and Sonos Radio. One search covers all of them.
Control transport, crossfade and the sleep timer, group and per-speaker volume, EQ, and home-theatre settings such as Night Mode and Dialog Enhancement. The stream format shows on every track, and lyrics scroll with the song.
Describe what you want to hear. choragus sends your description to Claude, OpenAI or any OpenAI-compatible service, matches the song list that comes back on Apple Music, a signed-in service, your library or a media server, then saves or plays the result.
AI is optional. Without an AI key, copy the prompt into any chat AI and paste the list back.
Drag rooms together to group them. A preset restores a grouping with its volumes and EQ in one click. The app also has a menu-bar mini player and Apple Shortcuts with Siri phrases.
A full-screen wall of album art from your own listening history, tinted by the cover playing now, with what plays next and the artist's story down one side. Put it on a TV or a spare display and leave it running.
The Network tab shows every speaker's link: band and channel, latency, interference and firmware, with a Check Wi-Fi flag on the weakest one. Copy All puts everything on the clipboard for a bug report.
The Sonos desktop app for the Mac was an Intel-only build that ran through Rosetta 2, and Apple is ending Rosetta 2. choragus was written from scratch in Swift and SwiftUI so a Mac can keep controlling Sonos.
Tested on a system of 22 speakers across 15 rooms, S1 and S2, with a library of more than 45,000 tracks.
